British Toe Wrestling

Every year in Derbyshire, England, the Ashbourne World Toe-Wrestling Championship takes place. It's a one-of-a-kind sport where players lock their feet together and try to pin their opponent's foot down in a best-of-three-round tournament. Taking off the other person's shoes and socks is a standard courtesy among players. The event, which is not very common, started in 1976 and has since grown in popularity as a tourist attraction, drawing contestants from all over the world.
George Burgess, who came up with the sport, wanted England to be the best in at least one sport, so he made it up. But, in a strange twist, a Canadian who was visiting won the first event!
