The International Cherry Pit-Spitting Championship in the US
Anyone can take part in the International Cherry Pit Spitting Championship, which happens every year. Since the 1970s, it's happened every July on the Eau Claire farm in Michigan. This is when the tart cherry harvest season starts. The name of the game is "Cherry Pit Spitting," and the goal is to see who can spit a cherry pit the farthest. The Guinness Book of Records says that Brian "Young Gun" Krause holds the record right now with a spit that is 93.6 feet long.
Contestants have to follow a few regulations. You can't hold anything in your mouth that could help you spit, and you have to spit the pit of a Montmorency cherry that is between 55 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
