The World Egg Throwing Championships in England

Every year, the little community of Swaton in Lincolnshire, England, hosts the World Egg Throwing Championships to celebrate the 600-year-old custom of throwing eggs. People think this humorous and strange pastime comes from old pagan stories that say flinging eggs signified the start of spring. There are other categories for people to compete in, like Longest Throw, Highest Throw, and even Freestyle Egg Throwing. Every year since 2005, the World Egg Throwing Championships have taken place.
Thousands of people from all over the world come to the event as participants and spectators. While at the championships, people can take part in other fun events, such a vintage car exhibition and games that use eggs.
