Pumpkin Throwing in the US

The World Championship Punkin Chunkin is an annual event where participants compete to see who can hurl a pumpkin the farthest using different machines. The event began in Delaware in 1986 and has since become a popular tradition in the US. Teams usually utilize a lot of different machinery to throw pumpkins as far as they can. These equipment include trebuchets, catapults, pneumatic cannons, centrifugal machines, and even machines that people power.
The current record is more over 46,000 feet in 2013. The contestant shot an air cannon into the wind at 20 mph. There were more than 20,000 people watching. Did you know that Punkin Chunkin sponsors charities and tries to give the money it makes to the local community?
