The Dakar Rally in Senegal
The Dakar Rally is an off-road endurance motor race that takes place every year in Senegal. Anyone can enter, whether they are a professional or an amateur. People think it's one of the hardest and most dangerous events in the world since racers have to cross hundreds of kilometers of rough terrain. Sadly, as many as 50 people have died throughout the years, which shows how dangerous the race is. The race usually happens in January and is made up of rallies of different lengths.
The first rally was inspired by what occurred to Thierry Sabine, who got stranded in the Libyan Desert in 1977. The route of the rally changes every year.
