The Sauna Endurance Championship in Finland
Since 1999, the World Sauna Championships have been held every year in Heinola, Finland. The last individual to stay in a sauna heated to 110Β°C (230Β°F) for as long as feasible wins this endurance challenge. The people who are competing must sit up straight and not let their hands or forearms contact the ground. A doctor keeps an eye on the contestants. But even with these steps, one participant died in 2010.
There hasn't been another World Sauna Championship since this awful event. We heard that the competition was one of the most intense in the world, and we believe it!
