1. Chimpanzees

It's not surprising that the smartest animal is also the one that is most like ourselves. In certain circumstances, these animals have even been demonstrated to do better than people at particular activities! For example, a juvenile chimpanzee named Ayumu played a memory game with college students in which each person had to memorize a series of numbers. Ayumu beat all of the other students, which suggests that chimps might have greater working memory than people do! Chimps have also been seen crafting tools out of sticks, like spears, and they have even been taught to use sign language to talk to each other.
