From Nicholas Hoult To The Beast

Studio ADI did the special effects makeup for X-Men: First Class. Alec Gillis, the makeup artist, said that they wanted the Beast to look like a lion. Director Matthew Vaughan wanted it to look very different from the Kelsey Grammer version. They used fur instead of hair to make it look real.

They stuck with the cat-like textures, and in post-production, they added warm colors to the skin to make it look less flat. Even though the makeup was quite detailed, post-production made him look more alive.
