Here's Why the Dutch Hang Backpacks on Their Flagpoles

So, the Dutch (particularly, Dutch families) have a very cute ritual. They put their kid's schoolbag out the window with a flag pole for all the neighbors to see whenever one of their kids passes his or her high school examinations. This custom may seem unusual to people who don't know about it, but it's really cute and good. It's mostly simply parents displaying how proud they are of their kids.
We don't know what else would be a good family custom that shows how growing up is both unavoidable and heartwarming. The Dutch deserve credit for coming up with such a cool little ceremony.
