We Wonder What This Device Is for

Japan is known for being strange and different. In recent years, Japanese inventions like a baby onesie with a dust pad for the baby to clean the floor while it crawls and a pillow that looks like a woman's lap to lay your head on have been all over the internet. There is also a developing market for companion robots that can move, talk, and do things that people generally do. This is not common in the rest of the globe, but it is not uncommon in Japan.
So, this moving mouth and nose appear to fit right in with all the other strange things that are frequent there. The only thing we want to know is what it does.
