Somebody Took the Door Lock Home With Him

So this guy went to work and saw that he couldn't get in. He must have believed that something was wrong with the door lock, but there wasn't one. Another employee took the door lock home with him yesterday night and didn't notice till the next morning. It was definitely the new man, right? It's always the new person who does these things.

How absent-minded do you have to be to not even realize that you took the door lock home? When he put the keys in his pocket, didn't he sense that something was off?
