Dr. Marshall Gives Himself Ulcers to Win Noble Prize

Barry Marshall is a doctor from Australia and a professor of clinical microbiology at the University of Western Australia. He was making a guess that H. The pylori bacteria were making stomach ulcers. Sadly, he wasn't able to get further with his medical studies. So, in the end, he chose to eat the bacteria and give himself ulcers. He won the Nobel Prize for his study after curing the ulcers.
This is a great example of living in a way that is both risky and rewarding. Instead of listening to his coworker and letting his theory die, he went all out, and it worked.
