It's All in the Fine Print
Coyotes are a problem all over the U.S. They are spreading into cities and are very hard to get rid of. Someone from the California park service may have made this sign for that reason. At first glance, it looks like any other sign telling people to stay away from wild animals. But if you look more closely and read the small print, you'll see that it's not. It tells people to call the police if they encounter a coyote with a box that says "ACME."
That and the other small print are apparent allusions to Wile E. Coyote from the Looney Tunes. Of course, they also mention a few more "suspicious" things, like a coyote with a catapult or a sign that says "detour."
