After answering all the questions on the test, this child clearly felt more sure of themselves. We can tell that they got the first few questions right, and we can only guess that they started to feel a little too smart for their own good when they knew the answers to the questions they were being asked. This is why they answered the last question the way they did. When asked how they know if a number is even or odd, they said, "Because I'm smart."
The teacher who graded the paper said it may be true, but the students weren't smart enough to know that wasn't the right response.
