6. ## Horizon Class

Critics of the Franco-Italian Horizon Class destroyers have pointed out their great cost and slow development schedule. The intricate worldwide development project resulted in conflicts between French and Italian systems. Although advanced, the PAAMS air defense system of the ships has drawn criticism for its maintenance needs and integration problems.  

Since their launch, questions regarding the vessels' capacity for efficient operation in high-threat surroundings have remained unresolved.
